2011 will see new launches from Audi A8, A7 and A6 series which will boost the company’s share to 23-25% in the Indian car market. The Audi A8 will be designed with larger wheel base and will be ready for launch in couple of weeks from now, said its Director for India. He added that Audi A7 will follow suit in May or June with A6 slated for Q4 of 2011 amidst lot of competitions in the domestic market. He further said the company is the number one in China and Japan and with Audi car launch it is on the verge of reaching the top slot in the US and India. Though the actual target is 30%, the company is soft pedaling in attaining its latest target.
Audi’s R8 with V8 engine secured the Supercar of the Year 2008 award and this is replaced as CBU by the latest R8 5.2FSI coupe with V-10 engine. The company’s projected figure after Audi car launch for 2011 is a minimum of 4500 against 3003 in last year based on the phenomenal growth witnessed so far. On parallel the number of dealerships too will be increased to 20 from the existing 14 including Ludhiana, Nagpur, Indore and Surat. The major focus will be on the brand image, he added. Audi’s Aurangabad plant is assembling Audi A4, Q6 and Q5 ranges under single shift with the installed capacity of 4500-5000 units.
He expressed the hope that by another three yeas this may be doubled. The sold figures for 2010 were 25% of A4 and 20% of A6 and Q7 and Q5 sharing the rest. National Capital Region brought some 33-35% of sale to Audi and 23-25% from Mumbai, while Chennai contributed 8% of the net sale volume with the sale of 227 units. The expected sale volume for Chennai region from all variants is 400 units, said CEO of Chennai Audi.
