Blackberry Playbook will tether to your Blackberry phone for full internet

It has been confirmed by RIM that the Blackberry Playbook will allow full tethering to Blackberry phones. Originally thought to only be available in Wi-Fi with rumors of tethering, this opens up the tablet to better mobile use. By allowing tethering users will not have to go around looking for Wi-Fi hot spots in order to connect.
The tethering will be handled via Bluetooth and Blackberry’s Bridge software which not only will allow data communications to go back and forth but will allow Blackberry devices connected to the Blackberry Enterprise Server to apply IT policy settings to the Blackberry Playbook tablet. Playbook specific IT policies will include how long information is cached on the Playbook allowing corporate to control how long sensitive information might remain on the Playbook and set it to automatically delete when the Playbook is no longer connected to a Blackberry phone.

While tethered the Blackberry Playbook will have full access to the internet. On top of that it’ll have Blackberry specific features such as the syncing of email, contacts, and BBM messages.
We’re looking for the Blackberry Playbook to ship soon; it’s been slated for the 1stquarter of 2011. Pricing hasn’t been announced but multiple leaks have put the base Blackberry Playbook with 8GB of storage at $399
